Sunflower in my garden

I sow the seeds of these sunflower late March. Now, after 6 months, they are blooming.
I believe sunflower seeds are the easiest to germinate. All those seeds that I sow sprouted but eventually after being planted in the garden bed, many of time couldn't survive the lack of water last summer. Only about 7 of them grew but two were better perhaps thanks to their getting enough moisture from the birthbath.

The two things I like most about sunflower are that their pretty face looks so cheerful in the sun and that they can be grown in both tropical and subtropical climate.
And here's an update photo of the gift I've got from a friend.

I was worrying about this little plant so much but thanks goodness, it's growing and looks healthy enough to sustain.
I'm now waiting anxiously to see the bloom of this little one!

Hello Ha Xuan! Is that choc sunflower? It's looking good :-D Mine was a lanky plant and has to be supported all the way till it grows to 5' high. Oh yes sunflowers are so cheerful looking especially yellow ones like yours here ;-) Recently I bought some seeds yellow sunflower seeds from a nursery here. I hope to sow them soon.

Your sunflowers are lovely. I am trying to grow some Chiengrai highlands sunflower from seeds given by a friend. My flowers are quite small.

Yes, Steph, that's the choc one. It looks quite ok to my eye. You know I've been away often so it hasn't been fed; maybe a dose of fertilizer now will fatten it up. I normally don't feed flowering plants until I see them budding up because I don't want them to grow so tall. But maybe with this little girl I should.
Will keep you updated.

Autumn Belle: thank you. Are you from Thailand? If I can find someone travelling to Thailand, I can certainly share with you some seeds.

There's nothing more delightful than a sunny sunflower. They brighten up even the gloomiest day.
